Tottenham have greatly improved their squad this season bringing in qualiy players like, Soldado, Paulinho, Eerikson and Chadli.

Tottenham are currently 4th in the premier league and have been demolishing teams in the Europa League, beating Anzi Mahchkala 2-0 and cruising past each team they've faced. Last season Spurs lacked goalscorers relying on Bale to get them goals but this is not the case this season, with such brilliant signings Tottenham can really challenge for a top 4 place. Spurs were aiming for the Champions league last season but the Europa league is still a prestigious competition to win. Here are Tottenhams' group in the Europa League:

As you can see the teams above won't pose much threat against Tottenham and they should have no problem getting to the last 16. Spurs are yet to concede in this group. Many strong teams may drop down from the Champions league such as Ajax, Galatasaray, FC Basel ( who Tottenham lost to in the previous Europa League campaign), Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen and Marseille. All of these teams are a real threat and any of them could go on to win the Europa League.

Tottenham had trouble when they faced FC basel before due to Sala ( the Basel winger) causing trouble for Assou-Ekkoto and getting crosses into Streller, the 6 ft 5 centre forward. Galatasaray will also pose a threat with Drogba up front, his strength and ability to hold up the ball will cause a lot of trouble for Dawson and Vertonghen. If Celtic manage a third place finish in their group, which looks rather unlikely, Tottenham are going to be in for a tough game. Celtic aren't the kind of team that dominate matches but they have an almost impenetrable defense ,managing to hold off and beat Barcelona 2-1 in their last Champions league campaign.

Celtic also cause trouble for any team through set-peices and crosses, with Samaras up front this could be a deadly combination. The only teams from the other Europa league groups that can pose a threat are Swansea, Real Betis, Lyon and Rubin Kazan. Tottenham have a lot more depth in the current squad unlike last season which was lacking good attacking options.

The problem with Spurs last season is they lacked goalscorers, this isn't the case this year however with basically everyone from the midfielders to the forwards able to create and score goals. Paulinho was a great signing, he has the qualities that a defensive midfielder requires with the added ability to add to attacks.

Cristian Eriksen, another summer signing, looks like he will fit into the Tottenham squad very well, with his ability to beat players and create chances Eriksen will be a valuable asset to Spurs.

With a tactically sound manager like Andre Villeas-Boas to tie it all together Spurs will be a very formidable side. The competition in European tournament is fierce but they have the quality on their side to succeed.
